CAPABILITIES
Our full-service oil analysis laboratories offer the following types of analysis:
Oil Analysis
Oil analysis is a routine activity for analyzing oil health, oil contamination and machine wear. The purpose of an oil analysis program is to verify that a lubricated machine is operating according to expectations. When an abnormal condition or parameter is identified through oil analysis, immediate actions can be taken to correct the root cause or to mitigate a developing failure.
Lubricant testing services for all fluid types:
· Industrial Oils (Hydraulics, Gears, Turbines, etc.)
· Heavy-Duty Lubricants (Engine Oils, Transmission / Gear Oil)
· Mineral or Synthetic Lubricants

Coolant Analysis
Bureau Veritas’ coolant testing and analysis programs monitor changes in both conventional and extended life coolant (ELC) properties due to chemical reactions occurring within the cooling system before they escalate to failure.
We can determine if:
· The coolant is suitable for continued use
· Coolant mixing has occurred
· Additive depletion is compromising metal protection
· Contaminants are present that can cause scale or acid formation
· Coolant should be removed and replenished with new coolant

Fuel Analysis
Bureau Veritas’ fuel testing and analysis services provide the diagnostic information you need to identify contamination and prevent:
· Component wear
· Plugged filters
· Damaged or failed injectors
· Microbial growth

Fuel costs and consumption are the most obvious, direct overhead factors, but operating with aged or contaminated fuel affects the short- and long-term reliability and performance of your equipment as well. Monitoring changes in fuel properties and contaminants and verifying delivery specifications can prevent costly failures and unexpected downtime.
Grease Analysis
Condition-based grease analysis can identify changes in grease consistency, contamination and oxidation stability and help in determining its remaining useful life. Contamination, base oil depletion and a variety of mechanical issues can affect grease’s ability to remain in contact with and protect metal surfaces.
Routine testing and analysis can determine:
· Bearing Condition – extent of wear
· Grease Condition – normal, oxidized, contamination present
· System Condition – contamination present, type
· Re-greasing Frequency – application intervals.
· Greasing Capacity – volume of grease for optimum machine performance

A large percentage of component bearings are lubricated with grease, which consists of base oil, a thickener and additives. The base oil can have a mineral, synthetic or even vegetable origin. Testing ensures that all three are working together so that the grease is providing maximum metal protection.
Refrigerant Oil Analysis
Bureau Veritas has test packages to routinely monitor both refrigeration oil and refrigerants to monitor system components, identify moisture build-up, wear particles and the harmful acids that can jeopardize system efficiency.
Refrigerant oil analysis allows you to:
· Schedule maintenance and repairs based on lubricant, refrigerant and machine condition
· Pinpoint problem areas for diagnosis to maximize scheduled maintenance activities and reduce costly repairs
· Identify the onset of potential problems – early detection extends system life

Oil Analysis Using Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Equipment reliability and optimal equipment performance starts with a consistent oil and fluid analysis program that is accompanied by accurate and reliable results delivered on time. Charles™ - our Artificial Intelligence (AI) software, developed by Microsoft - uses cutting edge machine learning software on our extensive historical data to predict the severity and recommendations for new samples. The efficiency that Charles™ brings allows our oil analysis experts to spend more time investigating the critical and abnormal samples that are most important to our customers. The test results can be viewed in real time using our LOAMS portal which is available on a mobile app and desktop. The real time availability of accurate data allow our customers to take immediate and decisive maintenance actions that save money and prevent equipment failure.
Oil & Fluid Analysis Program Guide
This quick reference guide is a helpful tool to use when sending samples to our oil and fluid analysis laboratories. It outlines the entire process of what you need to know including oil analysis kits, taking representative samples, reviewing results and taking action according to our recommendation.
Transformer Oil Analysis
The analysis of insulating oils provides information about the oil, but also enables the detection of other possible problems, including contact arcing, aging insulating paper and other latent faults and is an indispensable part of a cost-efficient electrical maintenance program. Increase reliability with advanced oil testing for transformer / insulating oils including:
· Condition Screening Tests
· Dissolved Gas Analysis
· Power Factor
· PCB Testing

Bureau Veritas helps you make sense of your test results, understand the true condition of your high-voltage equipment, and make intelligent, cost-effective transformer management decisions.
Metalworking Fluids Analysis
Our Metalworking Fluid Analysis programs:
· Monitor contaminants to inhibit corrosion and prevent microbial growth
· Measure pH to maintain metal solubility and fluid stability
· Provide system flushing and filtration procedures to improve new fluid performance
· Help prevent serious health risks and environmental issues that poorly maintained metalworking fluids can create

Testing and sampling frequency are dependent upon the application, the machining process – rolling, cutting or grinding – and the metal alloy being machined. With Bureau Veritas, you can be confident your metalworking fluid test slate includes the proper testing at the appropriate sampling frequencies to identify the onset of potential problems.
